What I've Got

Long time, no see, Blogosphere. I wish I had a million hours in each day to accomplish everything that I set my mind to, but alas, I do not.

Lots has happened since I last blogged. First and foremost, I am an initiated member of a sorority (Kappa Alpha Theta)! I honestly never thought that I would be the type of girl to join a sorority, and especially so after I had a baby so young. But I must say, joining Theta is probably one of the best decisions I've ever made.

My sisters are phenomenal individuals, and I had more fun in this semester of college than all my other semesters....combined. I participated in Lip Sync (dancing/lip syncing competition), movie nights, zoo trips, BBQ's at Frat houses, the whole nine yards! My sisters are incredibly supportive of my tag-along (aka my son), and he refers to them as "the grirllls" (he has a hard time with the word "girl" lol). I have taken him with me to New Member Modules, Lip Sync practice, social events with Frats, and everybody in the Greek community has been amazing about it.

Towards the end of the semester, I was chosen to step up as Chief Financial Officer (CFO - basically the treasurer) of my sorority. I am extremely excited about this opportunity and that I am finally getting involved. Oh, how I have missed being apart of something bigger. In high school, I was all about extra curricular activities. But once I had a child and settled at community college, I changed my priorities. I'm glad I am at a place in my life where I can have my cake and eat it, too!

I have also gotten a job working with kids who have Severe Emotional Disturbances (SED). This is exactly the type of career that I am looking to have, so it is absolutely perfect. I have even been able to use tidbits of information that I have attained throughout college. It really feels good to be able to see why I am getting an education and what I have to look forward to!

My GPA for the semester ended up being a 3.6 (3 A's, 2 B's), which I am extremely proud of. This is my highest semester GPA to date. I also retook my Modern American Lit class online from my community college and got an A in that! Finally, my cumulative GPA back up to 3.132, and I expect the rise to continue.

Motherhood has been a constant struggle lately. With me going back to work and Oliver starting daycare again, it has been a mess. For the past seven months, it has basically been me and him. Every single day. Just hanging out. So it is a hard adjustment for the both of us. Since starting daycare, he has started having the worst attitude ever. I couldn't even tell you how many full-blown, crazy tantrums we have had in the past month. Ninety-eight percent of which happen in public places. I'm hoping, for the sake of my sanity, that things get back to normal very soon. I miss my sweet little boy!

Thankfully, his father and grandparents took him for a week on vacation. Typically, I would have been more hesitant about him being gone so long. But I jumped at the opportunity for a breather. Nonetheless, I'm kicking myself in the face because I have been absolutely bored and lonely this week that I barely even know what to do with myself.

So, that is what I got.
