Friday's Letters

Dear Oliver, I have enjoyed hanging out with you this week. Though the days you missed your nap were a little less enjoyable, I am cherishing these moments because Dooms Day (aka the first day of Kindergarten) is just around the corner. Every single day I am thankful for your presence and proud to be your mom! Especially when you belt out "Scream & Shout" in the car and randomly tell me I am your best friend. I know that I must be doing something right to have such a creative, funny little boy.

Dear Previous Renter of Taken 2 on Redbox, Thank you so much for scratching up the DVD before returning it. I always say, you have not seen a movie until you watch it skipping every five seconds. If I knew who you were, I would sneak into your house and scratch every single one of your DVD's so you can feel my pain.

Dear Valentine's Day, So glad you are over! Though, I do have a new found appreciation for you after hitting up the candy clearance aisle at Walgreen's this morning. The only thing better than Butterfingers is 50% off heart-shaped Butterfingers. I rewarded myself with a whole bag for enduring my Facebook news feed full of flowers, gifts, and "I have the greatest girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/boo/lover/man/etc ever" statuses yesterday.

Dear Spring, You can come any day now, please. I know Mother Nature likes to be full of surprises and trickery, but I am over the cold weather. It is so last season. Oliver and I are ready to spend days outside playing with trucks and going to the park. I also would not mind being able to send Ollie outside before nap time to do his favorite activity of "run in circles" and wear off some of his pent-up energy. Sigh. A mom can dream, can't she?
